Determining Dynamics and Factors Contributing to Victimize in the Rural Structure of Bangladesh

The present study has been conducted to determine the dynamics and factors contributing to victimization in Bangladesh’s rural structure. The people of rural communities lead their lives and engage in mutual interaction based on community rules, regulations, and a code of conduct. The rural structure of Bangladesh works for all to ensure their well-being and safety. The behavioral conventions are practiced by the rural people for their better progress and expected interactions as well. However, the structure in rural settings produces some factors and dynamics that cause trouble for victims. The study tried to trace the dynamics and factors contributing to harm and suffering in the community life and aspects. Considering this phenomenon, the study has been designed to determine the inherent reality of being victimized and the consequences faced by the victims after being harassed by defendants and persons in conflict of law. In the present study, ten victims of different victimizations were interviewed using an In-depth Interview Checklist (IIC). In contrast, six key individuals were interviewed using the Key Interview Schedule (KIS). The face-to-face (F to F) interview technique has been followed to understand the holistic themes of victims, their families, and the key persons. Based on the qualitative approach of using Case Study Method (CSM), the study has been concluded to have achieved its objectives in the following aspects. The victims, as respondents of various victimizations, expressed their pre-ground of being victimized, including all factors contributing to suffering by the event of victimization and criminal offense. Analyzing the responses opined by the respondents, some relevant recommendations and policy-based interventions have been suggested to prevent the case of victimization. Those steps must be taken to control the factors and dynamics of victimization.
