Abstract:

Moral identity is the part of moral traits and values in individual self-concept, which has an important impact on people’s behavior. Through a cross-sectional study of a large-scale questionnaire survey, this study explores the impact of moral identity on prosocial behavior, and the role of sense of meaning of life and belief in a just world. The results show that moral identity is highly positively correlated with individual prosocial behavior. The belief in a just world and the sense of meaning of life play a chain intermediary role between moral identity and prosocial behavior. The results of this study will help us systematically understand how moral identity affects individuals’ prosocial behavior preferences from the perspective of justice belief and life meaning.
