Abstract:

This research arises from the need to expand knowledge about mental health, particularly after the impact generated during and after the COVID-19 pandemic. Although the general population has been affected, evidence suggests that the impact has been more intense on health professionals, especially doctors and nurses. Troya Fernández, Peri?an Sotelo, and Sánchez-Movellan Pérez (2022) emphasize that the true magnitude of this impact requires a comprehensive analysis of its consequences on mental health. The study adopted a mixed methodology and had 57 health workers in Colombia as the target population. The Intra-work Psychosocial Mental Health Assessment Model (MIPASM) was implemented, based on two analytical dimensions: individual and social. For the evaluation of work environments, two instruments were used: the General Health Questionnaire (GHQ-28 items) and the Intraworkplace Risk Battery-Form B. The research findings are structured into three fundamental axes: i) development and optimization of protocols for mental health care, ii) incorporation of evaluation strategies for workers exposed to psychosocial risk factors and iii) improvement of the environment work as a preventive measure. It is concluded that alterations in mental health persist in the population evaluated, which highlights the need for specialized interventions and the implementation of techniques that mitigate the impact of these symptoms.
