跨文化交际视角下粤菜菜单英译研究

Abstract:
粤菜以其烹饪技艺之高超、食材之广泛、调料之精细、文化底蕴之深厚,在国内外闻名遐迩。也正因如此,广东特色鲜明的粤菜在英文中很难找到对应的表达,为粤菜菜单的英译增添了不小的难度,对于译者而言更是一大挑战。本文从跨文化交际的视角出发,选取具有代表性的粤菜,在语义切近原则、文化传播原则、美学原则、简洁原则和创新原则的指导下对粤菜菜单的英译进行研究和探讨,以期对粤菜菜单的英译规范贡献绵薄之力,推动粤菜文化在海外的传播。
Cantonese cuisine is renowned both domestically and internationally for its sophisticated culinary techniques, diverse ingredients, exquisite seasonings, and profound cultural heritage. However, the distinctive characteristics of Cantonese cuisine make it challenging to find equivalent expressions in English, significantly increasing the difficulty of translating Cantonese menus and posing a considerable challenge for translators. From the perspective of cross-cultural communication, this paper selects representative Cantonese dishes and explores their English translation under the guidance of principles such as semantic proximity, cultural transmission, aesthetics, conciseness and innovation. The aim is to contribute to the standardization of English translations for Cantonese menus and promote the global dissemination of Cantonese culinary culture.
