Abstract:

本文以无本回译理论为切入点,聚焦林语堂《苏东坡传》(张振玉译)展开深入研究,运用文本细读与文本比较法,深入剖析张振玉在翻译实践中译者主体性的具体表现。研究发现,张振玉通过巧妙运用“四字格”,增强译文的表现力与文化韵味;大量引经据典,提升译文的文化内涵与语言魅力;合理进行文化归化还原,有效解决文化负载词的回译难题;适度实施“创造性叛逆”,纠正原文中的不当表述并更好地契合读者的需求等方式,充分彰显了译者的主体性。这一系列翻译策略的运用,不仅实现了无本回译效果的优化,提升了译文质量,还为中国文化的传承与传播搭建了桥梁,让中国读者能从新的视角领略经典文化的魅力。本研究加深了对无本回译理论的理解,为译者主体性研究开拓了新的维度,为后续英语文学作品的翻译实践提供了有益的参考与借鉴,对推动翻译理论与实践的发展具有重要意义。
This paper takes the theory of textless back translation as the starting point and conducts an in-depth study on Yutang Lin’s The Gay Genius (translated by Zhenyu Zhang). By applying the methods of textual close reading and text comparison, it thoroughly analyzes the specific manifestations of Zhenyu Zhang’s translator subjectivity in the translation practice. The research reveals that Zhenyu Zhang fully demonstrates his translator subjectivity in multiple ways. He skillfully uses “four-character phrases” to enhance the expressiveness and cultural flavor of the translation; quotes numerous allusions to improve the cultural connotation and language charm of the translation; reasonably restores cultural adaptation to effectively solve the problem of back-translating culture-loaded words; and appropriately implements “creative treason” to correct inappropriate expressions in the original text and better meet the needs of readers. The application of these translation strategies not only optimizes the effect of textless back translation and improves the quality of the translation, but also builds a bridge for the inheritance and dissemination of Chinese culture, enabling Chinese readers to appreciate the charm of classic culture from a new perspective. This study deepens the understanding of the theory of textless back translation, opens up a new dimension for the study of translator’s subjectivity, provides useful references for subsequent translation practices of English literary works, and is of great significance for promoting the development of translation theory and practice.
