This paper delves into the issues present in current junior high school mathematics teaching, including teaching methodologies, content arrangement, student-centeredness, and assessment methods. It also clarifies the specific connotation and framework of core competencies. By analyzing the specific manifestations of core competencies in junior high school mathematics teaching, this paper further verifies the effectiveness of the proposed optimization pathways through empirical research, aiming to provide robust support and practical guidance for the improvement of junior high school mathematics education.
