基于CCL语料库的英汉转折连词对比研究——以“但是”和“but”为例
A Comparative Study of English-Chinese Transitional Conjunctions Based on CCL Corpus—Taking “Dàn Shì” and “But” as examples

本文旨在探讨汉语中的“但是”与英语中的“but”在语义转折标记中的异同。在英汉互译的过程中，二者的差异往往容易被忽视，本文则基于北京大学汉语语言学研究中心语料库(CCL)中的汉英平行语料库，从词语搭配、语法含义和语用功能三个维度进行深入比较分析。研究发现，尽管“但是”和“but”在语义上均承担转折功能，但在实际语言使用中，它们的互译对应频率、语义内涵及搭配运用等方面均展现出不同的特点。本文揭示了在英汉互译过程中，对这两个转折连词的理解与应用需要更加细致的考量，以确保翻译的准确性和流畅性。
This paper aims to explore the similarities and differences between Chinese “Dàn Shì” and “but” in the semantic turning marks in English. In the process of English-Chinese translation, the differences between the two are often easy to be ignored. Based on the Chinese-English parallel corpus in the corpus of Chinese Linguistics Research Center (CCL), this paper makes an in-depth comparative analysis from three dimensions of word collocation, grammatical meaning and pragmatic function. It is found that although both “Dàn Shì” and “but” have semantic turning function, they show different characteristics in their corresponding frequency, semantic connotation and collocation application in actual language use. This paper reveals that in the process of English-Chinese translation, the understanding and application of these two turning words need to be more detailed to ensure the accuracy and fluency of translation.
