In the long history of Chinese civilization, people’s pursuit and contemplation of happiness have always flowed in the spiritual blood of the Chinese nation. The pre-Qin Confucians had deep thoughts about happiness, and regarded “filial piety” to “benevolence” as the source of happiness, and believed that the key to happiness is to restrain people’s own selfish desires with “benevolence”. At the same time, pre-Qin Confucians regarded social happiness as true happiness. Social happiness is not only the ultimate goal of each individual’s pursuit of happiness, but also the common goal pursued by the whole society. By digging deeper into the pre-Qin Confucian concept of happiness, it has an important contemporary value for people to correctly position their personal happiness, actively create family happiness, and strive for social happiness.
