Abstract:

Objective: Using CiteSpace visualization software, this study analyzes the literature on acupuncture treatment for obesity in the Web of Science Core Collection database over the past 20 years, with the aim of understanding the current research status and future trends in the field, and providing direction for its future development. Methods: The core collection of Web of Science was searched from January 1, 2004 to June 28, 2024, and the relevant research literature on acupuncture treatment for obesity was screened and selected. CiteSpace was used to conduct bibliometric analysis and visualization from the perspectives of journals, countries, institutions, authors, keywords, and references. Results: A total of 226 studies were included, and the number of literatures increased steadily over the past two decades, but fluctuated significantly in recent years. INT J OBESITY is the journal with the most related publications, and J TRADIT CHIN MED is the most central journal. China has the largest number of publications and the largest contribution to international cooperation. The most prolific institution is Chengdu Univ Tradit Chinese Med. The author with the largest number of publications is Huang Wei, the keyword with the largest frequency and centrality is acupuncture, and the reference with the highest frequency of citations is published by Belivani M. Conclusion: This field has formed a relatively stable development trend, and most of the studies on acupuncture treatment of obesity are mainly randomized controlled trials. In the future, various treatment methods can be used to strengthen the research on the mechanism of obesity patients, and explore the treatment of acupuncture in the treatment of postoperative complications of bariatric surgery.
