|
Abstract:
Functional Near-Infrared Spectroscopy (fNIRS) is a neuroimaging technique that measures changes in brain tissue oxygenation and has been used to study various emotional processes. In the field of emotions, fNIRS has been applied to investigate both positive and negative emotions, such as happiness, gratitude, hope, awe, love, anger, anxiety, depression, guilt, shame, jealousy, and sadness. This article briefly introduces the imaging principles of fNIRS and compares its advantages and disadvantages relative to other imaging techniques. It also provides a brief overview of research using fNIRS in the study of both positive and negative emotions. The use of fNIRS in emotional research can contribute to a better understanding of the brain mechanisms underlying emotional experiences and guide the development of interventions aimed at improving emotional well-being.
