“The Economic and Philosophical Manuscripts of 1844” is an important work of Marx in the period of the formation of the concept of freedom, in which the concept of freedom plays a pivotal role in Marx’s ideological system. This paper analyzes Marx’s idea of freedom, in which he introduced the concept of freedom into his discourse on the nature of man, but alienated labor and private property led to the loss of freedom. Therefore, Marx believed that it was necessary to eliminate self-alienation and abandon private property, and only in this way could communism find the road to freedom and liberation. Studying the free thinking in the “Economic and Philosophical Manuscripts of 1844” has important academic significance and practical value. It can not only provide a more systematic and comprehensive understanding of the Marxist ideological system and reject Western erroneous ideas, but also provide reliable ideological guidance for building a harmonious and stable society.
