A Study on the Compilation of Annals of Ningguofu of Jiaqing

嘉庆《宁国府志》共三十六卷，另设首末各一卷，总计约一百八十万字。上起夏商周三代，下迄清嘉庆十三年间的历史，涵盖沿革、疆域、职官、选举、营建、食货、学校、武备、艺文、人物等内容，是现存宁国府的最后一部统志，也是宣城历代旧志中集大成者。该书由知府鲁铨等监修，学者阳湖洪亮吉和歙县凌廷堪参与纂修，此外前后参与工作的人员达115人，在历代旧府志、旧县志及当时组织编写的采访册和事实册，历经两年编纂而成。
The Annals of Ningguofu of Jiaqing consists of 36 volumes, with a first and a last volume, totaling about 1.8 million words. It covers historical events from the Xia, Shang, and Zhou dynasties up to the thirteenth year of the Jiaqing period of the Qing dynasty. The content encompasses changes in administration, territorial boundaries, official positions, elections, construction, food and goods, education, military preparedness, arts and literature, and notable figures. This is the last comprehensive gazetteer of Ningguo Prefecture that exists today, and it is also the culmination of the old local chronicles of Xuancheng throughout the generations. The book was supervised by Governor Lu Quan and others, with scholars Hong Liangji from Yanghu and Ling Tingkan from She County participating in its compilation. In addition, a total of 115 people were involved in the work at various stages. Drawing on historical prefectural and county gazetteers as well as contemporary interview records and factual documents organized for the purpose, the compilation took two years to complete.
