西欧中世纪盛期，在骑士阶层发展壮大、女性社会地位发展以及社会文化氛围变化的社会背景下，出现了典雅爱情这一爱情观念。其以游吟诗人与其创作的文学为诠释和传播的主要载体，反映出当时新兴婚恋观念的重要特点。典雅爱情跳脱出婚姻这一形式，更重视对爱的追求；同时，女性也围绕典雅爱情进行自身的尝试与实践，体现出这一时期的婚恋观念中对两性平等、自由等内涵的新追求。典雅爱情所反映的新兴婚恋观念对西方婚恋实践与思想文化发展产生了深远影响。
In the High Middle Ages in Western Europe, under the social background of the growth of knights, the development of women’s social status, and the change of social and cultural atmosphere, the concept of courtly love as a concept of love emerged. It takes troubadours and their literature as the main carrier of interpretation and dissemination, reflecting the important characteristics of the emerging concept of love and marriage at that time.
