多模态话语分析视角下影视《西游记》英文版字幕翻译研究
A Study on Subtitle Translation of English Version of Journey to the West from the Perspective of Multimodal Discourse Analysis

在全球化的背景下，越来越多的非英语影视作品通过字幕和配音进入英语市场。字幕翻译不仅需要精准传达原文的内容，还要考虑观众的文化背景、认知习惯和观影体验。因此，字幕翻译需要在忠实原文和适应目标观众之间找到平衡。本文借助多模态话语分析的理论框架，从文化、内容、语境与表达四个层面研究《西游记》的字幕翻译。通过这四个层面的分析，本文希望揭示字幕翻译中所面临的挑战，并总结出有效的翻译策略，以期对其他影视作品的字幕翻译提供借鉴。
In the context of globalization, an increasing number of non-English films and series are entering the English-speaking market through subtitles and dubbing. Subtitle translation not only requires accurate conveyance of the original content but also consideration of the audience’s cultural background, cognitive habits, and viewing experience. Therefore, subtitle translation needs to strike a balance between fidelity to the original text and adaptation to the target audience. This paper employs the theoretical framework of multimodal discourse analysis to examine the subtitle translation of Journey to the West from four perspectives: culture, content, context, and expression. Through these analyses, the paper aims to uncover challenges in subtitle translation and to outline effective translation strategies, in order to provide insights for subtitle translation of other film and series works.
