Metaphor is not only a rhetorical device, but also a way of thinking. It is a way or mechanism for people to establish connections between different things in their thoughts. Because of the differences of national culture, thinking mode and experience in English and Chinese, they have different understandings of things and metaphorical understandings. This paper takes “red, yellow and green, white, blue and black” as examples to explore the similarities and differences between Chinese and English color metaphors and understand the deep meaning of color. By observing the habits of Chinese and English, master the differences of color words in two languages, and accurately judge the metaphorical meaning of color words.
