This paper explores the current state and challenges faced by the Zhoushan dialect, employing the theoretical framework of Cooper’s “Eight-Question Scheme” to analyze strategies for the protection of the dialect. The article begins with an overview of the Zhoushan dialect, then introduces the concept of language planning and the Cooper’s “Eight-Question Scheme”. The paper also points out that effective protection and inheritance of the dialect require the joint efforts of the government, academia, grassroots organizations, and the general public. Finally, the article emphasizes the importance of research on the dialect itself and proposes directions for future research, in the hope that the Zhoushan dialect can receive broader attention and effective protective measures.
