19世纪中后期中华文化典籍英译史研究
A Study on the Translation of Chinese Cultural Classics in the Middle and Late 19th Century

19世纪中后期是中西翻译史上极为重要的时期，鸦片战争后，国内“西学东渐”浪潮不断的同时，“东学西渐”之风也在逐渐兴起。本文依据英国人翻译中国文化典籍这段历史，运用社会史观研究方法分析这一翻译现象产生的社会背景和主要原因，并按时间顺序依次梳理中期和后期英国传教士和外交官英译汉语典籍的具体情况。该研究能完善翻译史学科建设，增强中华民族的文化自信，最终促进中华文化的传承创新和对外传播。
The mid-to-late 19th century was an extremely important period in the history of Sino-Western translation. After the Opium War, while the domestic wave of “Western learning going eastward” continued, the trend of “Eastern learning going westward” was also gradually rising. Based on the history of the British translating Chinese cultural classics, this paper applies the research method of social history to analyze the social background and the main reasons for this translation phenomenon, and combs through the specifics of the translation of Chinese texts by British missionaries and diplomats in the middle and late periods in chronological order. This study can improve the construction of the discipline of translation history, enhance the cultural confidence of the Chinese nation, and ultimately promote the inheritance, innovation and external dissemination of Chinese culture.
