操纵理论视角下社会科学文本汉译英翻译研究——以《村落的终结：羊城村的故事》为例
Translation of Academic Works of Social Science Based on Manipulation Theory—Taking Urban Village Renovation: The Stories of Yangcheng Village as an Example

中国社会科学文本的外译是中国学术“走出去”的钥匙，势必对社科类文本的外译质量和传播效果提出了更高的要求。根据操纵理论，译者在翻译过程中不可避免地面临诗学、意识形态以及赞助人的制约，必将对其翻译方法的抉择产生影响。作者对《村落的终结：羊城村的故事》部分章节进行汉英翻译，并在操纵理论的指导下与该书的官方译本进行对比分析，发现译者在诗学、意识形态以及赞助人的影响下采取了直译、增译、改译、省译等四种翻译方法，以期助推中国学术和文化的更为广泛的传播。
The translation of academic works in social sciences is crucial for the international dissemination of Chinese research. This process demands high standards of translation quality and effectiveness. According to the manipulation theory, translators inevitably face poetic, ideological, and patronage constraints in the translation process, which will certainly have an impact on their choice of translation method. I translate some chapters of several chapters from Urban Village Renovation: The Stories of Yangcheng Village from Chinese to English and compared them with the official version of the book under the guidance of manipulation theory. It is found that under the influence of poetics, ideology and patrons, the translator adopted four translation methods, namely literal translation, amplification, adaptation and omission, in order to promote the wider dissemination of Chinese scholarship and culture.
