Abstract:

Epithelial-mesenchymal transformation (EMT) refers to the biological process by which epithelial cells are transformed into cells with interstitial phenotypes through a specific procedure. Partial EMTs in cancer cells are thought to enhance their aggressive properties and promote resistance to anti-cancer drugs. Phosphatidylinositol 3 kinase/protein kinase B/mammalian rapamycin protein (PI3K/AKT/mTOR) signal transduction pathway plays an important role in the proliferation, apoptosis, invasion, metastasis and angiogenesis of malignant tumor cells. The activation of PI3K/AKT/ mTOR signaling pathway is an important reason for the growth, development, proliferation and metastasis of tumor cells, especially the disorder of EMT. This review focuses on the relationship between cellular EMT and PI3K/AKT/mTOR signal transduction pathways.
