知识分子的困境：蔡元培《新年梦》研究
The Dilemma of Intellectuals: A Study of Cai Yuanpei and New Year’s Dream

19世纪末20世纪初，面临内忧外患的民族危机，晚清知识分子展开了对现代民族国家的想象和建构。蔡元培及其政治小说《新年梦》便展现了儒家大同乌托邦的景象，体现传统儒学与社会主义的交融。但是，蔡元培在小说中仍流露出“文明等级论”的倾向，无法坚持中国历史自身的主体性。这与蔡元培本人思想的中西杂糅特征是密切相关的。
At the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century, faced with the national crisis of internal and external troubles, intellectuals in the late Qing Dynasty began to imagine and construct a modern nationstate. Cai Yuanpei and his political novel “New Year’s Dream” show the scene of Confucian utopia of great unity, reflecting the integration of traditional Confucianism and socialism. However, Cai Yuanpei still reveals the tendency of “Civilized Hierarchy” in his novels, and is unable to adhere to the subjectivity of Chinese history itself. This is closely related to the hybridization of Chinese and Western characteristics of Cai Yuanpei’s own thought.
