Abstract:

本研究分析译林初中英语教材的文化呈现,研究发现:1) 母语文化和英语国家文化并重,缺乏国际文化、共有文化和跨文化呈现;2) 文化内容呈现具有多元性,内容呈现比重差异大;3) 文化呈现方式以显性呈现为主,隐性呈现为辅,文化输出活动比重较低。据此建议,教材文化内容以中华文化为中心,其他各国文化兼容并包;以文化产品为抓手,其他文化内容有机融合;教师合理开发课程资源,加强文化对比教学和输出活动。
A case study of the foreign cultures represented in English language textbooks used by Chinese junior high schools was conducted. It finds that: 1) Chinese culture and culture of inner circle countries are favoured but international culture, area-not specific culture and transnational culture are under-represented; 2) The presentation of cultural content is in a diverse manner with significant differences in the proportion of each content; 3) The representation of cultures is mainly explicit and only partially implicit. Based on these findings, it is suggested that culture materials from textbooks can center on Chinese cultural contents and present cultures from countries worldwide. Instead of cultural contents taking the lion’s share, other cultural contents should be equally integrated. Teachers can aim to develop curriculum resources, helping students understand the differences in cultures and hold activities that can make them output what they know about cultures.
