The German writer Kleist was deeply skeptical of the expressive power of language, believing that language could not fully express human thought, and thus the message conveyed by the body as a medium played an important role in Kleist’s novels. The plot of “fainting” appears many times in Kleist’s novels, and the deep meaning behind it is worth exploring. This article takes Kleist’s novels as the research object and analyzes the significance of the fainting phenomenon.
