心理动词在进行体中的认知语义研究

Abstract:
英语进行体的语义特征一直以来受到语言学界的关注。本文通过搜寻COCA以及文献梳理,分析了英语动词进行体的基本意义和心理动词的属性特征,发现以体验者为主语的心理动词——心理状态动词运用在进行体中的频次较高。并从认知语法的角度阐释了心理状态动词运用于进行体的五种语义特征和实质:1) 突显产生的动态意义;2) 突显有限持续的状态;3) 对说的话或行为进行解释说明或评价;4) 表示“事件重叠”;5) 表达委婉礼貌。本文为英语进行体在心理动词中的运用提供了认知语法的视角,也对英语动词进行体的教学具有一定的启发意义。
The semantic characteristics of English progressive aspect have long been concerned by the linguistic circle. Through searching for COCA and literature review, this article analyzed the basic meaning of the progressive aspect of English verbs and the attribute characteristics of psychological verbs. It is found that psychological verbs, which take the experiencer as the subject, are used more frequently in the progressive aspect. From the perspective of cognitive grammar, this paper explained the five semantic features and essence of the use of mental state verbs in the progressive aspect: 1) The salience of the dynamic meaning generated; 2) The salience of a limited and persistent state; 3) Explaining or evaluating what is said or done; 4) Indicating “event overlap”; 5) Expressing euphemism and politeness. This article provides a cognitive grammar perspective for the use of the psychological verbs used in English progressive aspect, and has some enlightening significance for the teaching of the English verb progressive aspect.
