Abstract:

Whether migrant junior high school students can overcome the academic difficulties caused by environmental changes and achieve success depends on their academic flexibility. The existing studies have not paid attention to the role of values in the discussion of the factors affecting academic flexibility, while the impact of educational values as an important factor affecting educational behavior on academic flexibility and its mechanism is still unclear. Therefore, this paper aims to analyze the relationship between the educational values and academic resilience of migrant junior high school students by using the data of the China Education Panel Survey (CEPS), and positively look at the intermediary role of the future in it. The results show that: 1) The educational values of migrant junior high school students have a positive predictive effect on cognitive and non-cognitive academic resilience; 2) The positive attitude towards the future has a partial intermediary role between educational values and non-cognitive academic flexibility; 3) Positive attitudes towards the future have a complete mediating effect between educational values and cognitive academic flexibility. This study confirmed that educational values can not only directly predict the academic resilience of migrant junior high school students, but also positively and indirectly predict academic resilience in the future, revealing the important practical significance of educational values and future perspectives for improving the academic resilience of migrant junior high school students.
