Abstract:

Willpower is one of the key factors in determining individual achievement. Previous studies have shifted from descriptions of willpower inhibitory control and resources to exploration of cognitive processes, behavioral strategies and skills. However, no unified model has yet considered the various mechanisms of willpower comprehensively. According to the existing theory and research, this paper constructs an integrated model of willpower mechanism, and divides the inhibition control, value evaluation, continuous investment and automatic response mechanism in the process of willpower based on the clarity of goals and the integration of completion deadlines, in order to explain the action process of willpower under the same framework and promote people’s understanding and application of willpower. In the future, it is urgently necessary to carry out multi-dimensional basic and applied research into the deep mechanism and specific strategies of willpower.
