英语世界《道德经》的传播和接受情况分析

Abstract:
《道德经》在西方英语世界的传播是中华典籍走向世界的成功案例。本文首先利用文献研究的方法，梳理了《道德经》在西方英语世界的翻译情况，然后采用数据量化分析的方法，对《道德经》在西方英语世界的译本销售量、借阅流通量、学术引用量和译著再版量进行了调查，并且分析了各种相关原因。调查发现：《道德经》在西方英语世界传播广泛，西方学术界研究《道德经》的热情高涨，这主要跟《道德经》文本的开放性和思想的普世性有关。
The dissemination of “Tao Te Ching” in the western English spoken countries is a successful case of Chinese classics entering the world. This paper collected the data from the online platform sales, academic reviews, global library collections and the number of academic citations and reprints in order to investigate the oversea acceptance of the translation of “Tao Te Ching” and find out the related reasons for this phenomenon. The results show that “Tao Te Ching” has been spread widely around the world, and scholars have enthusiasm to study the “Tao Te Ching”. This is related to the openness of the text and the universality of the thoughts.
