|
Abstract:
Executive functioning is the mental process by which individuals consciously control their thoughts and behaviours, of which cognitive flexibility was selected as a measure in this study. The study was conducted with 81 university students as subjects, and the More-Odd Shifting task was used to examine the effect of different modes of social networking behaviour on the cognitive flexibility of university students. The study showed that there was a significant differ-ence in cognitive flexibility between individuals who used social networking sites in different ways, and that proactive social networking site use had a significant effect on cognitive flexibili-ty.
