Tokat Province Endometrial Biopsy Results’ Analyse in 2020 Year

Abstract:

Purpose: The aim of this study is to evaluate the results of endometrial biopsy that performed in Tokat Central and District Public Hospitals in the recent year. Material and Method: The results of 750 endometrial biopsies have been evaluated that have been analyzed between the 1st of January and 31st of December, 2020 in Tokat Public Hospital Pathology Laboratory. The data that has been collected from the pathology unit was analyzed retrospectively. Endometrial biopsy indications were classified as two classes. Biopsies were taken from 605 patients (80.7%) that have abnormal uterine bleeding, on the other side biopsies were taken from 145 patients (19.3%) with the postmenopausal bleeding complaint. Findings: The pathology materials that have been analyzed in this time period were targeted as 750. When the results were analyzed, 284 endometrial polyps were 37.9% of them, 130 endometrial hyperplasia (10 patiens with atypia) were 17.3%, 130 secretuary phase endometrium 17.3%, 59 proliferative phase endometrium 7.87% of them. 55 irregular proliferative endometrium were 7.3% and 28 chronic endometritis were 3.7%. Malignancy was detected in 7 cases which that 0.9%, and inadequate material was detected in 57 results that constitute 7.6%. The average age of all patients was found as 42 years. The average age of the results with malignancy was 65 years. Conclusion: Endometrial biopsy is a safe method that used effectively at abnormal uterine bleeding. Before biopsy planning in premenopausal patients, medical history should be taken and physical examination should be done thoroughly and deciding should be made together with ultrasonographic findings. Endometrial biopsy is the gold standard for abnormal uterine bleeding at postmenopausal patients. The results of studies that have been researched in some regions and events which affects community life may differ from the literature.
