Abstract:

在简?里斯的后殖民文本《藻海无边》中,罗切斯特被解读为残忍的殖民者和被女性主义不断解构的对象,罗切斯特利用殖民女性来追求男性气质的企图以失败告终。作品揭露了父权制社会中男性角色的局限性,并揭示出男性气质与殖民扩张的同构性。罗切斯特的男性气质经历的危机与重建,隐含了简?里斯对平等的性别关系和种族关系的向往。
In Jean Rhys’s post-colonial text Wide Sargasso Sea, Rochester is interpreted as a cruel colonist and the object of constant deconstruction by feminism. Rochester exploited colonial women to pursue masculinity but ended in failure, exposing the limitation of male role in patriarchal society, and revealing the isomorphism of masculinity and colonial expansion. Rochester’s masculinity underwent crisis and reconstruction, which implied Jean Rhys’s yearning for equal gender and ra-cial relations.
