|
Abstract:
Born a Crime tells the story of South African hybrid Trevor Noah in the background of apartheid. As a colored person, he narrates the lives and complex ethnic identity recognition process of Post-Colonial minority groups in a unique way. From the perspective of minority in the framework of Post-Colonial Theory of Homi Bhabha, this paper analyzes the historical and social causes of Noah’s becoming a minority, the social and family factors in his growth experience which leads to his identity recognition and the cognitive dilemma when he has to choose an ethnic identity. It aims to keep the voices of minorities from disappearing in the tide of cosmopolitanism, eliminate the color bar and promote the harmonious coexistence of all mankind.
