Loneliness is not only a common psychological experience of adults, it also exists in the sensitive inner world of children, but children’s psychological feelings are easily overlooked and obscured by adults. In Coraline, Neil Gaiman focused his brushwork on the severe spiritual crisis faced by children in the process of growing up in modern society, and expressed the loneliness theme of the text in his usual dark style. Neil Gaiman used grotesque Gothic techniques and fragmented language to create a lonely atmosphere in the story and resonate with readers. The novel also shows the possibility of children getting out of loneliness through fantasy, allowing children to release the pressure of loneliness during reading.
