习主席新年贺词中的隐喻及翻译策略研究
A Study on Metaphors in President Xi’s New Year Greetings and the Translation Strategies

隐喻作为一种认知手段，广泛地应用于政治语篇之中。隐喻和政治文本密不可分，政治家常用隐喻来表达执政理念和执政方略，习主席新年贺词中便采用了大量生动形象的隐喻。本文从概念隐喻视角出发，以2018年到2022年习主席新年贺词双语为语料，结合定量和定性的方法，梳理了新年贺词中的隐喻并探讨了隐喻的英译策略。研究发现，隐喻有四种常用的翻译策略，即保留喻体、意译、转换喻体和省略喻体。
As a cognitive phenomenon, metaphors are widely used in political discourse. Metaphors and political discourse are highly integrated. Politicians often use metaphors to express the conception and policies of governance. President Xi used a large number of vivid metaphors in his New Year Greetings. Based on Lakoff’s Conceptual Metaphor Theory, this article takes President Xi’s New Year Greetings from 2018 to 2022 as the corpus. Combining quantitative and qualitative research methods, this article analyzes conceptual metaphors used in New Year Greetings and explores the translation strategies of metaphors. There are four translation strategies of metaphors, namely, maintaining the same metaphor, explaining metaphor, translating into different metaphor, and deleting metaphor.
