Student participation in the management of student affairs in colleges and universities is an indispensable and important link in promoting the management of student affairs in colleges and universities to achieve democratic cogovernance. It is an important part of building and perfecting the modern university system and promoting the democratic management of colleges and universities in our country. Individual students’ participation in the management of student affairs in colleges and universities reflects their autonomy in participating in school management. Individual students are less influenced and restricted by student affairs administrators, large in number, and represent the needs and interests of more students, so they play a better role in participating in student affairs management than members of student organizations and student clubs. However, there are problems such as insufficient awareness of rights, lack of effective guidance and perfect system, and failure to form a closed loop of actual management when individual students participate in student affairs management, which affect the effect of individual students’ participation in student affairs management. Colleges and universities should cultivate and enhance students’ sense of democracy, develop individual students’ ability to participate in the management of student affairs, establish and improve the system for individual students’ participation in the management of student affairs, ensure that individual students participate in student affairs management to form a practical management closed loop, and promote student affairs management more democratic, scientific and institutionalized.
