Abstract:

The relationship between age and moral judgment is an important issue in the field of develop-mental psychology and moral psychology. Interestingly, most of our “knowledge” of morality in adulthood and even old age, for or against Piaget, has been extrapolated from the premise that moral development is stable throughout the life cycle to this day. Although the theoretical re-search on the moral development of adolescence has reached maturity, there are still differences on the moral judgment of individuals in adulthood, especially in the old age. Some moral anomie behaviors of the elderly cause people to have negative value judgment of “old people become worse”, but the research on the moral judgment of the aging population does have weak empirical basis. Future research can focus on the analysis of age differences and the underlying mechanisms to provide more empirical evidence for the moral status of the elderly and deepen people’s understanding of the elderly moral.
