Since the first report of COVID-19
in December 2019, our knowledge and treatment modalities haveevolved at great pace understanding
its impact on the maternal and neonatal outcomes. Whilst pregnant patients are not
more susceptible to acquiring the infection as compared to the general population,
they may be at higher risk of developing severe symptoms given the physiological
changes, relative immune-compromised state of pregnancy, and their neonates at risk
of consequent iatrogenic preterm deliveries. Our review article discusses outcomes
of pregnant women and neonates with COVID-19 from several countries including the
UK, USA, France, Italy and Chinaand provides a narrative review of literature from November 2019 till December
2020.
