Abstract:

外宣文本英译在中国对外交往中的重要性日益凸显。在抗击2020新型冠状病毒肺炎疫情这一全球公共卫生安全事件期间,中国出台了多部双语外宣文件。本文基于纽马克翻译理论,以疫情期间三个双语外宣文本为研究对象,对比分析三个文本的译文,探讨政策选词的简洁性、防疫策略和防疫设施表达的准确性以及不同语境的翻译方法。对目标语选词的用法辨析和对中英句法结构的转化确保了翻译的准确性和译文的可读性,外宣文本的英译兼顾准确性和可读性,注重的是中国文化自信的体现、中国话语体系的构建和中国声音的传播。
The English translation of China’s publicity texts is of mounting significance in China’s foreign exchanges. It is highlighted during people’s fight against Covid-19, a Public Health Emergency of International Concern in 2020, with many published bilingual documents. Based on Newmark’s translation theories, this paper takes three bilingual texts amid the pandemic as samples. By contrasting and analyzing them, the paper explores how to simplify target words in policies, how to accurate the expressions of strategies and facilities for the epidemic prevention, how to match high-frequency words with different contexts. Thus, it points out that discriminating nuances of words and applying syntactic conversion ensure accuracy and readability which the English translation of external publicity follows. And the performance of China’s cultural confidence, the construction of China’s discourse system and the spread of China’s voice are stressed.
