City and Urbanization in Islamic CivilizationKeywords: ?slam,?slam Uygarl???,Kent,Mimari,Toplumsal Dinamikler Abstract: The religious phenomenon, which is accepted as a social element, is not only effective in social life, it is also influential in urban architecture, urban life, and management. From this point of view, cities are constantly affected by the socio-economic processes they are experiencing and are being reshaped in this process. The cities also wear the clothes of civilizations they have emerged in these processes. In this context, a form of civilization including all the dimensions of life has emerged with the emergence of Islam. Islamic cities have emerged in places where commercial activities are dominant and spread as a civilization with relations established with past civilizations. It is observed that the theological basis of this expansion process has developed in accordance with the dynamics of urban life. At this point, the aim of the study is to analyze the dynamics of the city and urbanization that emerged in Islamic civilization. In the study, firstly the basic features of Islamic cities are given and the characteristic elements (architecture, social, economics, and management) are examined in detail. Then the influence of Islamic civilization on urban and urbanization is analyzed in the cities of Bursa, Fez, and Baghdad. The analysis of how the theoretical aspects of the Islamic cities are practically reflected in life is the original aspect of the study. In addition, the study contributes to the field by analyzing three Islamic cities established in three different geographical regions. The study is based on literature review
