The Activity and Use of Vaccine in Marine Fish Culture Sector of the Aegean Region

The aquaculture sector is growing day by day and causing increase on imports and exports of living and non-living materials used in aquaculture production . One of the effective solutions against diseases causing economic loss is vaccine applications. Accordingly, in the Aegean Region, applications of vaccines has become widespread in small enterprises as well as bigger ones. However, small quantity of companies specialized on vaccine applications, and general impression of enterprises which concludes that vaccine solution is not cost effective and vaccination is difficult to apply cause some of the small enterprises staying away from vaccines. Results of an survey research are presented in this study which is conducted between 2011 and 2014. It is aimed to determine the problems of vaccine industry in Turkey and show the necessity of vaccination applications for aquaculture sector. Presented result obtained from 60 facilities are revealing the prevalence and impact of vaccination on fish in the Aegean Region
