Nermi Uygur’s Life-Based Philosophical Understanding

The modern Turkish thought is separated into two periods, the first of these is the first five decades of republic in which positivist paradigm was dominant. In general, philosophical studies in that period were formed in terms of scientific method. Moreover, it is possible to say that enlightenment approach was popular in that period. Nermi Uygur, who produced efficient works, marked a new epoch by adopting phenomenology-based philosophical understanding of Husserl. It is remarkable that Uygur presented life-based approach and he attached importance philosophically to perspectives of each life at that time. In this paper, I will try to show that authentic and dialogical quality of Uygur’s phenomenological-based philosophical understanding. In this way, the different opinions will be shown with the exception of enlightenment and positivist paradigm in our thought tradition
