Movimiento estudiantil y Nueva Izquierda en los Estados Unidos de los 60's. Su defensa y crítica en Wright Mills y Marcuse

El presente trabajo indaga en los movimientos estudiantiles asociados a la corriente de la Nueva Izquierda estadounidense cuyo auge se dio durante los a？os sesentas, y lo hace a partir de una serie de textos claves de dos de los intérpretes más importantes sobre los mismos. Nos referimos a Charles Wright Mills y Herbert Marcuse, quienes no sólo reflexionaron sobre dichos fenómenos sino que ayudaron a forjarlos y participaron en ellos de distintos modos. Al hacerlo, nuestro objetivo será intentar delinear las características principales del movimiento estudiantil y la Nueva Izquierda, especificando sus dimensiones y sus elementos de crítica hacia otras corrientes de la época. Al final, con todos esos aportes, podremos sistematizar los rasgos fundamentales de una “teoría-práctica-crítica”. Palabras clave: movimiento estudiantil – Nueva Izquierda – C. Wright Mills – H. Marcuse – teoría crítica Abstract This paper studies the student movement associated to the current of the North American New Left during the sixties, and does so with the aid of a series of key texts by two of its most important interpreters. We are referring to Charles Wright Mills and Herbert Marcuse, who not only reflected upon these phenomena, but helped to forge them and even participated in them in diverse ways. In doing so, our goal will be to try to line out the main characteristics of the student movement and the New Left, specifying their dimensions and the elements of critique they present against other contemporary trends. In the end, with all those contributions, we will be able to sistematize the fundamental aspects of a “practical-critical-theory”. Key word: student movement – New Left – C. Wright Mills – H.
