The Opinions of Head-Teachers, Physical Education Teachers and Students Towards the Physical Education Course: A Qualitative Research

In this study, it has been aimed to determine the views of head-teachers, physical education teachers and students towards the physical education, and to find out their level of interests that they demonstrate to the physical education lesson, and thus to determine the problems that they are faced while running the lesson in different high schools. The study has been carried out on 21 participants, who are 7 head-teachers, 7 physical education teachers and 7 students in 2011-2012 Academic Year in different high schools in the city of Trabzon. In the study, a case study method from qualitative approach was preferred for aiming to get the views of the participants in a deep manner about the aim of the study. It has been used three semi-structured interview forms to collect the data. The data collected were subject to content analysis. According to the results of the research, participants stated that they can influence student development positively when it is done in accordance with the rules of the physical education course. In addition, participants stated that physical education lessons are not as important as other courses in education. It has been determined that the quality of the physical education courses has an important role to play in schools and the inadequacy of physical education class hours
