The Relation between the Theories of Psychology and Creativity

The concept of creativity is an ever existing norm that plays a crucial role in all kinds of affective and intellectual domains. In this context, the concept of creativity is treated in various different ways by the researchers from various fields based on the field-dynamics and, thus, different definitions are made. The concept of creativity which has been conceptualized and theorized in different ways by different disciplines such as philosophy, social sciences, fine arts, education and architecture and which is well beyond the simple definition and which has a multi dimensional phenomenon has been classified in different ways. The concept that is studied in many different fields will be evaluated on the basis of “theories of psychology” within the scope of this study. When all psychological theories are examined in the development of psychology as a scientific field, behavior theories have not been evaluated in the scope of this study which is partly due to the fact that the relation between behavior theories and creativity couldn`t be established. Within scope of this study, instead, the relation between creativity and psychoanalytic, humanistic, gestalt and cognitive theory will be analyzed
