Psychotic Disorder Possibly As a Complication Of Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy: A Case ReportKeywords: Hiperbarik Oksijen Tedavisi,Psikotik Bozukluk Abstract: In the literature, there are numerous case reports and clinical studies about the use of hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) in psychiatric disorders. HBOT has beneficial effects on psychotic symptoms after decompression sickness and central nervous system sequelae like personality changes, memory loss, and dementia after carbon monoxide poisoning. In the literature, there are no cases with psychotic symptoms after HBOT. In this study, we report a case of post-HBOT psychotic disorder. Our patient was admitted to the cardiovascular surgery clinic with the diagnosis of peripheral vascular disease and administered antithrombotic therapy and HBOT. After the fourth session of HBOT, he had psychotic symptoms like auditory and visual hallucinations. So we started antipsychotic treatment with diagnosis of Substance/Medication-Induced Psychotic Disorder (Other Substance). We think that this clinical situation is related to HBOT, because he had similar symptoms after HBOT given for decompression sickness twenty years ago
