SAVINGS AND INVESTMENT TENDENCIES OF ACADEMICS: TURKEY CASE

Nowadays the individual and household savings are of prime importance for an economy. Generally there is a savings gap problem in our economy. The aim of this paper is to investigate the behaviors of academics on savings and investment tendencies. The questionnaire form has been sent to academics from 30 universities and 644 answered questionnaire forms returned. The gathered data was analized with frequancy and percent analysis. According to the obtained results the percentage of savings of academics was found % 25 on the average. The mainly investing methods of savings were putting them in the bank as gold or foreign currency, buying real estate property and cars in sequence
