A View on the French Revolution from the Perspectives of English and American RevolutionKeywords: ?anl? Devrim,Ayd?nlanma,Amerikan Devrimi,Frans?z Devrimi Abstract: In this study, the American and British Revolutions, which have found little space in the social sciences literature, will be examined with a short critique of the French Revolution. Generally the left in the world and in particular the left in Turkey, has glorified the French Revolution against British and the American Revolutions. But British and American Revolutions are the revolutions that actually prepared the content and form of liberalism, democracy or liberal democracy. Therefore, the left-wing tradition which assumes that the British and American “revolutions” are in one sense incomplete and deficient revolutions by equating the “revolution” with civil commotion, innovation and violance. Therefore, it is not possible to understand the French Revolution without discussing the British and American Revolutions. Here, the critique of the modern idea of revolution will be discussed with reference to the 1688 British Revolution and the American Revolution and the idea of the Enlightenment they belong to
