Abstract: Infectious skin diseases are common among patients referring to the primary health care providers. Bacterial, fungal and parasitic diseases are more common in developing countries, while viral diseases are seen in developed countries. The most common bacterial disease is pyodermi and the most common fungal infection is superficial fungal infections caused by dermotophytes. Herpes simplex virus, Varicella, Molluscum contagiosum, verru are the most common agents among viral diseases and skabies and pediculosis are also among the common parasitic infectious diseases. Early diagnosis of diseases is possible with the recognition of dermatological findings of the diseases. Knowing the routes of transmission helps to prevent the spread of the disease. Appropriate isolation measures are important in reducing the transmission of the disease
