The Relationship of City Identity and TypefaceKeywords: Tipografi,Yaz? karakteri tasar?m?,?ehir tipografisi Abstract: A typeface is like human beings. Each of them has a distinct personality, a unique character and a classification, which it is, belongs to. Typefaces are also important in creating an identity. How a letter is formed is insignificant for those who do not care about it, but the details of the thickness of the lines, the curvature of the curves, and the structure of the protrusions at the end points give important details in providing a distinctive character. A city has also a character since it was founded in the same way. How the city is formed, the plan, the curvature of the rivers passing through it, and even the geological structure on which it is built give important clues in shaping of this character. These two concepts, city and typeface, have the same characteristics in terms of gaining identity, which is why a city can be remembered with its own character. In this study, the place of typefaces in city culture is considered as a review of the literature within the scope of the scanning model. The aim of the study is to take attention how typefaces formed in city identity and their place and importance in typographic design. This study is limited with the three cities from three different countries
