The Perception of Revelation in Muslim TraditionKeywords: Kelam,Vahiy,Allah,Cibr?l,El?i,Halku’l-Kur’an Abstract: Revelation is defined as the contact of Allah with the person he created. Due to the reason that the revelation of Qur’an is the main source of the Islamic belief system, it is a topic of discussion in our Muslim tradition for centuries, and main questions focus on its nature and content. The divine revelation underlies the religion, and essentially is the name of the revelation which comes from a different ontological sphere, the God, via a different ontological creature, the Gabriel, to a different ontological sphere, the prophet. The literal meaning of revelation is “confidential and quick notification”.? This meaning has raised some curiosity about arrival ways and content of revelation, and ontological differences between Allah as the revelation sender, and the human receiver. All these make the communication even more mysterious. Muslim kalam schools evaluate the subject of revelation, which is the main source of religion, within the framework of Allah's kalam adjective, Kelamullah and Halku’l-Qur'an. They are in discussion about whether the Qur'an was created or not, and whether Allah's kalam adjective is ‘kadim’ or ‘hadis’. Additionally, Shia scholars examine revelation from a different aspect, analysing it together with the Imamate theory, and discuss that imams are also recipients of revelation under the name of inspiration.
