Abstract:

Chronic pain occurs when physiological nociception becomes a chronic stimulant rather than an acute warning function. Comorbidities and their problems are considered as the most important source of loss of life quality, pain behavior, disability and suffer in chronic pain patients. In this study, comorbidities accompanying chronic pain were determined by examining the files of patients who presented with Chronic Pain complaints in November 2018. The patient’s records (n = 23. 7 males/16 females) were evaluated for pain intensity [Visual Analogue Scale (VAS)], obesity, gastrointestinal complaints, sleep disturbances, chronic fatigue, drug use characteristics and daily water consumption. When the records of the patients were collected; bloating after a meal was 91,3% in 21 patients, chronic fatigue, sleep disturbances and nonsteroidal analgesic consumption was 82,6% in 19 patient, constipation 60,8% in 14 patients, antidepressant and corticosteroid comsumption, 43,4% in 10 patients and 39,1% in 9 patients respectively. And daily water consumption of the patients were between 2-10 glasses of water, body mass indexes were between 20-39 and VAS scores were between 6-8. The results of our evaluation were found to be consistent with the results of comorbidity studies in chronic pain patients. When we examine the pathophysiological changes of these data, we see that many factors are intertwined. In the evaluation of chronic pain patients, considering the comorbid factors by taking care with a holistic neural therapy point of view is important in diagnosis and in the success of treatment
