Scale of Attitude Towards Sport Tourism: Validity and Reliability Study

In this study, it is aimed to develop a valid and reliable scale in order to measure the attitudes of students towards sports tourism. The study shows the features of basic research and a wide literature review has been made in the process of developing scale; and an item repository of 157 items has been formed. The formed scale draft has been checked up on in the light of views of the experts in education of sport sciences and tourism and hotel management; and the number of items has been decreased to 51. As a result of the sorting of scale items and organizing the scale in computer, the data collection tool has been made ready with a 5 point Likert scale. In order to test the scale, 308 student of Sport Sciences Faculty has been reached which is in accordance with the study criterion, and the scale has been applied on these students. As a result of the exploratory factor analysis which has been done in the light of the obtained data, a scale with 14 items and four factors has been obtained. For the reliability analysis, Cronbach Alpha and Spearmann - Brown Correlation tests have been used. The alpha values of the scale; .68 for "organization", .82 for "personal contribution", .73 for "job opportunities", .81 for "economic contribution", and for the whole scale it is found as .86. As a consequence of the analysis made in order to determine the test-retest reliability, it is seen that test is consistent in the results of the two tests (r=.80). The total explained variance in the scale has been obtained as 65.216. It is determined that the "The Scale of Attitude Towards Sports Tourism" which has been developed according to these results is a valid, reliable and useful scale
